Beleaguered Pakistan will have their task cut out when they take on struggling South Africa at Lord’s in the 30th match of World Cup 2019. South Africa’s hopes of progressing ahead are all but over after their defeat in the last outing while Pakistan are hanging by a fine thread. The Men in Green are currently reeling at the ninth spot in the points table with just 3 points from 5 games. They have won just one game so far while the other point came from the washed-out game.
Pakistan enter the game on the back of a loss against the arch-rivals India. Sarfaraz Ahmed and his men were poor on the field throughout that game as India asserted their authority. Asked to bat first on a belter of a track, India posted 336 for 5 with Rohit Sharma’s ton leading the way. In reply, Pakistan ended up on a modest 212 for 6 in 40 overs. Except for the brief phase when Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman were batting, they never really looked like challenging India.
South Africa, on the other hand, lost to New Zealand in a thrilling encounter. In a rain-curtailed game, South Africa posted a modest total of 241 for 6 in 49 overs. In reply, they had reduced New Zealand to 137 for 5. However, they could not find a way past Kane Williamson who scored a stunning century to take his side home with three balls remaining.
How’s the weather expected to be?
Fortunately for both the teams, the weather forecast is very promising. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall at the start of the game will be a minimal 3 percent. It will hover around that mark for the whole day. The cloud coverage in London will be around 70 percent on Sunday while the humidity will be in the 50s. The temperature will be a bit high and is expected to be around 20s.
