In first of the two matches on the final day of the league phase, the Sri Lankan team will face India at the Headingley in Leeds. This is the same venue where the Lankans got better off the hosts England but couldn’t make most of the surprise win. However, they would be looking to bow out of the tournament by beating India who has won six out of seven completed matches in this competition. India might be taking the field in this game with a playing XI which might not be seen in the knockouts.
Here we bring to you the Dream11 Fantasy team based on the stats of the players:
Wicket-keepers:
Kusal Perera has been Sri Lanka’s best batsman in this tournament with three half-centuries to his name. If India rests Jasprit Bumrah, expect the left-hander to take on the Indian new ball bowlers. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are on the same lines given their last five ODI innings. Pant will be the best pick among the two as he bats higher than Dhoni and in fact, is getting chance to take more outfield catches than the senior player behind the stumps.
Batsmen:
Rohit Sharma has been brilliant with the bat in this tournament having scored four tons already. In the previous five innings, the Indian vice-captain has three centuries to his name. If he survives the first powerplay, there are more chances of him ending up with a three-figure score. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t made a century in this tournament but has been good at scoring fifties.
Kohli scored five consecutive fifties prior to the match against Bangladesh. Avishka Fernando will be the 3rd pick as he scored 266 runs from his last five ODI innings including a century in the previous match. KL Rahul is another option among batsmen but he could be pushed to No.4 as Mayank Agarwal is likely to make his ODI debut in this fixture.
All-rounders:
Hardik Pandya is an easy choice in this category as his performance with either bat or ball is confirmed every game. He scored 40 odd in the game against England where he went wicketless but Hardik bagged a duck against Bangladesh. He bounced back by taking three crucial wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva is the 2nd option purely due to the 8.5 credits remaining and chances of troubling the Indian middle-order on what could be a slow track.
Bowlers:
Mohammed Shami is having a good World Cup as he claimed three consecutive 4-wicket hauls. The pacer has claimed a total of 16 wickets in his last five ODI matches. Lasith Malinga has done well with the ball in the tournament irrespective of the team’s performance. The veteran bowler has 12 wickets to his name in the tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have nine wickets apiece in their last five ODIs but Bhuvi has more chances of playing this match than Bumrah keeping an eye on the semi-finals. Isuru Udana will be the 4th pick as he picked up five wickets; same as three others but could find himself adding more points with the bat.
