ICC World Cup 2019: Match 45, Australia vs South Africa – Dream11 Fantasy Team based on Stats

South Africa’s disastrous campaign in the World Cup 2019 will come to an end on Saturday when they face Australia at the Old Trafford. Not many have expected to bow out in the semi-finals that too by remaining in the bottom three in the points table. South Africa won only two matches thus far and are placed at No.8 out of the ten teams. If the Saffers lose to Australia, they will finish at No.9, only ahead of Afghanistan who lost all nine matches. Australia needs to win this game to ensure they will play New Zealand in the semis and not England.

Wicket-keeper:

Only two wicket-keepers are there for this game – Quinton de Kock and Alex Carey. The South African keeper has had a disappointing tournament especially the form he was in with the bat for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Carey, on the other hand, has made most of the chances he got with the bat. In fact, the Aussie keeper has been good behind the stumps with as many as 12 catches in last five games.

Batsmen:

Aaron Finch and David Warner have carried the Australian batting on their shoulder. The two openers have already touched the 500-run mark and could end up close to 700 if they make it to the final. Finch has 396 runs in his previous five ODIs with two tons and two fifties while Warner amassed 368 runs with two tons in those. Usman Khawaja will be the 3rd pick as he bats at No.3 in the current Australian line-up. One of Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen will be the 4th choice as both have similar numbers in their previous five ODI innings. However, Faf bats at No.3 while Rassie at No.5 which gives an edge to the Proteas skipper in this shootout.

All-rounders:

The all-rounders for the game between Australia and South Africa includes quite a lot of bits and pieces players batting Chris Morris. The South African all-rounder has been their strike bowler in this tournament taking 10 wickets in previous five games. Andile Phehlukwayo and Marcus Stoinis are someone who can get away with wickets in high-scoring matches and will get chance to bat long if the top-order fails.

Bowlers:

Australia’s new-ball opening pair of Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff have been amongst wickets as the left-arm pacers picked up 17 and 12 wickets respectively in their previous five ODIs. They will be the first preferred picks from this category unless Australia wants to keep them fresh before the knockouts. However, with the Aussies playing their last game a week ago, it will be likely that this duo with share the new ball in Manchester. Imran Tahir has been decent with the ball taking wickets or keeping the thing tight from one end.
