England started the 2019 World Cup on a grand note, beating South Africa at the Kennington Oval in London by a margin of 104 runs. Four of their top five batsmen scored half-centuries and looked in ominous touch. The Three Lions’ bowling unit didn’t allow the Proteas to get away. In their second match, Eoin Morgan and Co are set to lock horns with Pakistan at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
It was the same team the Brits defeated a few days ago in a five-match ODI series. Pakistan, on the other hand, just couldn’t arrest their slump. In their first match of the mega event, the Windies beat them black and blue by seven wickets. The Men in Green’s batting couldn’t survive the venom spewed by the Caribbean bowlers. Speedster Mohammad Amir picked up three wickets, but his efforts went in vain.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and vice-captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions:
Jason Roy
Roy made a decent start to his World Cup campaign, scoring 54. But he threw his wicket away to Andile Phehlukwayo, playing a mistimed lofted drive. In the bilateral series, the Durban-born Roy plundered 277 runs with a century versus the same opposition. Pakistan’s bowling lineup is more or less the same and Roy will have another chance to get a massive score under his belt.

Jonny Bairstow
The World Cup didn’t begin on an auspicious note for Bairstow. The opener got out to leg-spinner Imran Tahir for a golden duck. The 29-year-old has shown consistency and doesn’t flounder for long periods. The pitch in Nottingham is expected to be good for batting and Bairstow will have a chance of making amends. If he gets into his own, then Pakistan could be in for some tough time.

Imam-ul-Haq
The southpaw got a 151 in the erstwhile bilateral series and is in good form. But he had a bit of a torrid time against the Windies. He looked clueless for 11 deliveries and eventually got out to left-armer Sheldon Cottrell. Nevertheless, he is one batsman, who puts a price tag on his wicket and has a calm and composed head on his shoulders. For Pakistan to make a comeback, Imam needs to fire.

Vice-captain suggestions
Babar Azam
Babar is arguably Pakistan’s most reliable batsman and his team depend heavily on him. He doesn’t go for the expansive strokes but manoeuvres the field to good effect in order to score consistent runs. In the last match, he poked at an away-going delivery and gave a simple catch to the slips. He got 22 off 33 with two fours. At the Trent Bridge, Babar’s role is expected to be a critical one.

Jofra Archer
Archer turned out to be a brute force with the ball versus the Proteas. He troubled their middle-order, picking up the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen. In fact, he was England’s most economical bowler the other day. He is sharp and has the pace to hurry the batsmen. The rather jittery Pakistan batting lineup will have its task cut out to face the in-form Archer.

Ben Stokes
Stokes was the Player of the Match last time and rightly so. First, he got a 79-ball 89, playing until the last over. Thereafter, he effected a run-out and took a couple of catches in the outfield. The catch he grasped to dismiss Phehlukwayo was an absolute spectacle. Then he brushed off the Proteas tail with two wickets. He’ll be looking to carry on with his rich vein of form.
