Bangladesh got off to a great start as they defeated South Africa comprehensively by 21 runs at the Kennington Oval in London. It was their second victory over the Proteas after 2007. With the triumph, Mashrafe Mortaza and Co became the first Asian team to beat South Africa twice in the World Cup. Their next encounter is against the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand on Wednesday at the very venue.
The Black Caps, on the other hand, started their campaign with a thunderous 10-wicket victory against a lacklustre Sri Lanka at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Matt Henry ran through the Lankan top order and bowled them out for a paltry total after which it was all too easy for the batters. Last time when the Tigers and Kiwis met in an ICC event during the Champions Trophy 2017, Bangladesh won by five wickets.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and vice-captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions:
Martin Guptill
The 32-year-old Guptill has had his travails over the past few months owing to a poor run of form. He got out cheaply in the warm-ups and that raised question marks over his position in the lineup. However, he came out firing on all cylinders and churned out a 51-ball 73 versus the Lankans. Earlier this year, the Auckland-born batter scored a couple of ODI tons versus Bangladesh.

Tamim Iqbal
The left-handed Tamim made a comeback in the previous match after suffering a wrist injury. But he didn’t quite look at his best and got out to Andile Phehlukwayo after scoring 16. He was in good form though in the tri-nation series in Ireland. The Chittagong-born is a matured figure in the team and the Tigers would be hoping for their premier batsmen to deliver the goods.

Kane Williamson
The Tauranga-born batsman had a couple of stupendous outings in the warm-ups, scoring 67 and 85. He didn’t seem uncomfortable at any stage. But he didn’t get to bat in the Black Caps’ opening match versus Lanka. With an average of 45.90 and 11 centuries under his belt, he is expected to play an important part. Against Bangladesh, Kane has an average of 54.57, having scored 382 runs.

Vice-captain suggestions
Shakib Al Hasan
The Jessore-born played a stupendous hand to earn the Player of the Match award in the last encounter. He scored 75 off 84 and was also a part of a 142-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim. He is currently ICC’s number-one ranked all-rounder and it’s pretty understandable why Bangladesh depends heavily on him. In the upcoming encounter, Shakib will want to put his best foot forward.

Colin Munro
Munro has been in and out of the Kiwis’ team because of his inconsistent run of form. The left-handed flattered to deceive even in the warm-up game versus India. To his relief, he was included in the playing eleven for the match versus Lanka. Munro didn’t disappoint and notched 58 runs apart from sharing an unbeaten 137-run stand with fellow opener Guptill.

Mushfiqur Rahim
Rahim has been one of Bangladesh’s most consistent batsmen in the ODI format. He was in good form in the tri-nation series in Ireland and then scored a 90 against India in the warm-ups. Thereafter, he scored a match-winning 78 versus South Africa. Nevertheless, he averages only 26.76 in 25 ODIs versus the Kiwis in 25 matches with only a couple of half-centuries.
