ICC World Cup 2019: Roger Binny picks his Indian squad for the tournament

Team India is almost ready to go for the World Cup which is scheduled to begin on May 30 in England and Wales. A couple of spots are still up for grabs and even those are expected to be filled in the ongoing ODI series against Australia. The deadline to submit the final squad for the World Cup is April 23 and the former cricketers are busy predicting their line-ups for the tournament.
Roger Binny has also jumped into the discussion now as he put forth his views on the 15-man group which will take the flight to England after the Indian Premier League. Roger is the former national selector and thinking accordingly, he felt that the pace trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami while he also felt that Hardik Pandya’s presence will bolster the bowling attack.
Binny drops Dhawan from the squad
Roger Binny surprisingly preferred KL Rahul in the squad and also added that he will open with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. Moreover, he dropped Shikhar Dhawan who has a history of bringing the best out of him in the ICC tournaments but is currently struggling to score runs. “In the batting department, I will choose K. L. Rahul as the opener over Shikhar Dhawan. He can be very effective in building an opening stand with Rohit Sharma,” he wrote for Sportstar.
Ravindra Jadeja is also not the part of Roger Binny’s World Cup squad and he looked pretty pleased with the way Vijay Shankar is faring at the moment. “I am also quite happy with the way Vijay Shankarfared in international cricket and he should feature in the squad for his all-round abilities,” he further wrote.
Roger Binny also picked Rishabh Pant as the backup wicket-keeper for MS Dhoni and felt that the former adds more flair to the team compared to Dinesh Karthik.

(15th slot is kept open for a batting all-rounder).
