The deadline for announcing the squads for the upcoming ICC World Cup is approaching and except New Zealand, none of the other nine participating nations has unveiled their teams for the mega event starting May 30. The teams have time till April 23 to announce their squads and can make adjustments until May 23 in case there is a need to replace injured members.

But when are the other teams announcing their respective squads for the WC?

Two-time champions India will announce their squad on April 15. Chief selector MSK Prasad confirmed this saying he will be meeting India captain Virat Kohli and other officials in Mumbai next Monday to decide on the squad.

Pakistan, champions of 1992, are coming out with their squad on April 18. The Men in Green, who were recently thrashed 5-0 by Australia in a home series, have announced a 23-man probable squad which will be trimmed further to 15. Pakistan plays England in an ODI series just ahead of the WC which will give them good conditioning.

South Africa, often called the “chokers” because of their repeated debacle in the semi-finals of the tournament, are likely to announce their squad on April 18 as well with a camp for the selected players beginning May 12. SA will feature in the first match of the WC against England at the Oval on May 30.

Quarter-finalists of the 2015 edition Bangladesh are expected to announce their squad for the WC between April 15 and 20 following the conclusion of a 50-over domestic tournament, confirmed their selector Habibul Bashar. Bangladesh will have a WC camp from April 24 and play in a tri-series featuring the Windies and Ireland just ahead of the tournament.

Hosts England, considered one of the favourites to win their maiden title this year, will announce their squad on April 17. The curiosity is over the question of including talented young pacer Jofra Archer, who recently qualified to play for England, in the squad.

Afghanistan, who are playing in their second WC this year, have announced a 23-member preliminary squad. They have removed their regular skipper Asghar Afghan and replaced him with Gulbadin Naib and the squad is training in South Africa. They will play some practice games before picking the final squad.

Defending champions Australia, who recently stormed back to form, are yet to announce their squad and there is also no set date as of now. Maybe, the Australian selectors are buying time to take the final call on Steve Smith and David Warner.

The Windies are yet to announce their squad as well and it has to been seen who among the current stars performing in the Indian Premier League make the cut in the final squad. Maybe the Caribbean selectors are keeping a final watch on the players before taking the final call.

Champions of the 1996 edition, Sri Lanka have not announced their squad either and it is expected that they will come up with the squad once the country’s provincial one-day tournament concludes. It has been made mandatory for the players to take part in the tournament so that the selectors can have a final look.
