ICC World Cup Qualifiers, 2018: Zimbabwe vs Ireland – Statistical Highlights

Zimbabwe continued to be undefeated in the World Cup Qualifiers as they registered a huge 107-run win against Ireland in the Super Sixes game. Sikandar Raza stood out for the host while their top order failed to convert the starts. Raza scored an unbeaten 69 with the tail-enders to push Zimbabwe’s total to 211/9. The home team spinners ran through the Irish batting to bundle out them for just 104. Tendai Chisoro dismissed three of the top five while Graeme Cremer cleaned up the middle and lower order.

3 – Sikandar Raza received his 3rd man of the match award in the ODI matches in 2018. These are the joint most for any player in ODIs this year so far. Virat Kohli also received three man of the match awards in 2018 ODI games.
Raza, who made his ODI debut in 2013 received six man of the match awards in the format; the most for any Zimbabwe player since the start of 2010.
3/22 – Tendai Chisoro’s bowling figures while opening the bowling. This is the 2nd time the left-arm spinner took a 3-wicket haul while opening the bowling in ODI format. Four other Zimbabwe spinners took 3-wicket hauls while opening the bowling in ODIs but none of them done it more than once.
8 – Number of wickets for the Zimbabwe spinners in this game. This was the 10th time where the Zimbabwe spinners shared 8+ wickets in an ODI. They picked wickets at an average of 8.5 runs and a wicket every 19 deliveries in this game.
8 – Number of Ireland batsmen got out in single digits in this game. This is the 3rd time as many as eight Irish batsmen got out for single digits in an ODI game. The previous two was against Afghanistan in the 2012 Dublin ODI and 2017 Sharjah ODI.
104 – Ireland’s total of 104 is the 6th lowest total for any team against Zimbabwe in ODI cricket. This is also the 2nd lowest total for any team against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe behind Bangladesh’s 103 also at Harare in 2001.
This total of 104 is also the lowest ODI total for any full-member nation against Zimbabwe in the last 16 years. Afghanistan were bowled out for 58 in 2016 when they were still an Associate team.
104 – Ireland were bowled for 104; their 6th lowest ODI total which is also their lowest against and in Zimbabwe.
109 – Zimbabwe’s 109-run win is their 5th biggest win in terms of runs at home in the ODI format. This is also the biggest home win for Zimbabwe since 2010 in this format.
