On the final day of the IPL trade window on Thursday, Delhi Capitals completed another successful deal by roping Ajinkya Rahane for the upcoming season in exchange of leg-spinner Mayank Markande and all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. However, as soon as the news about the former Mumbai Indians player broke in the media, the fans started trolling him on his transfer to a new franchise in the same transfer window.
A number of big players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Krishnappa Gowtham, Evin Lewis have shifted from their previous season teams to other for IPL 2020. But, the name that triggered a storm on Twitter was of Mayank Markande for getting traded twice in one transfer window.
Mayank Markande – From Mumbai Indians to Rajasthan Royals via Delhi Capitals
The leg-spinner, born in Bhatinda, made his debut in IPL for Mumbai Indians as they bought him after paying an amount of 20 Lakhs in 2018 auction. He emerged as one of the biggest finds of the league and took 15 wickets in 14 matches in his debut season. Also, he had a dream debut game as he took the priceless wicket of MS Dhoni in that match. In the next season, he couldn’t retain his consistency although he got three chances to prove his worth. But, a sudden dip in the form, ruled him out of the team. He managed to take only one wicket in three matches at an expensive economy of 9.83.
This forced Mumbai Indians to trade him to Delhi Capitals earlier, this year in July after the trade window commenced. And, before donning the jersey, the national capital-based franchise traded him to Rajasthan Royals along with Rahul Tewatia as a part of the deal in order to attain the services of Rahane.
Meanwhile, it was a shocking decision taken by the Rajasthan franchise because Rahane was picked by the team in their comeback season after coming out of their ban. He played in more than 100 matches in IPL for Royals. Also, Ajinkya was the skipper of the team in the previous season. Moreover, he had a good stint in 2019 and amassed 393 runs in 14 matches along with one ton and one half-century.
But, the fans were amused after the trade deal got finalized and stormed Twitter with hilarious posts.
Here are the reactions from the fans

I wonder how Mayank Markande feels about his IPL trades – moved from Mumbai Indians to Delhi Capitals. And then Capitals trade him to Rajasthan Royals without giving him a single game! #IPL2020
