Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistan bowler, was over the moon after the establishment of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya a few days ago. On Thursday, August 6, Honourable Indian Prime Minister laid the foundation of the temple and the area was decorated with yellow and saffron. A number of other renowned personalities also attended the religious ceremony.
The 38-year-old Kaneria was delighted called it a “Historical Day” and he also dropped a series of tweets. He is someone, who prefers to talk about his religious beliefs without much of hesitation. The Karachi-born also wishes to come to India and see the temple. Moreover, he was also an ardent follower of the TV series Ramayana, which shaped the childhood of many.

“Being a religious person, I am a devoted Hindu and I always try to follow the path shown by Lord Ram. Since childhood, we have seen Ramayana and I worship Lord Ram and his ideals of life. The tweet that I did about Bhoomi Poojan of Ram Mandir was not done to hurt or tease anyone.
“I believe in Lord Ram and that’s why I tweeted about it. If almighty Lord Ram desires, I will definitely come to India to see the temple,” Kaneria was quoted as saying in India TV.
Kaneria also expressed pride in donning the Pakistan jersey, being a Hindu. From November 2000 to July 2010, the leg-spinner plied his trade in 61 ODIs and 18 T20Is, picking up 261 and 15 wickets respectively.
“Playing for the Pakistan cricket team has been a matter of pride for me. Playing for my country and being a Hindu cricketer, representing the Pakistan team and winning matches for my team is like an achievement for me and it is a matter of pride and honour for me,” he added.
