If Rishabh Pant is MS Dhoni's fan, he should learn how to finish games from him: Virender Sehwag
Rishabh Pant is yet to register a half-century in the ongoing IPL 2022.
Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has not managed to make his bat do the talking in the ongoing IPL 2022, having amassed just 188 runs from seven matches at a strike rate of 154.10 with his highest score being 44. He has been getting starts on a few occasions but has not succeeded in converting them into impactful knocks.
Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag has come forward and said that Pant needs to fire all cylinders due to DC’s inconsistency in the middle order which has been a cause of concern for them this season. Furthermore, he also added that as an MS Dhoni fan, the youngster must learn how to finish games.
It is still important for Rishabh Pant to score runs in the middle: Virender Sehwag
“Rishabh Pant will be the key for DC. Even if the openers fire, it is still important for him to score runs in the middle. If he is an MS Dhoni fan, he should learn from him. Pant has the ability to score 20-25 runs in the final over, but for that, he has to be at the crease until the last over,” said Sehwag while speaking on Cricbuzz.
The southpaw was in the news for all the wrong reasons during DC’s last match against northern rivals Rajasthan Royals when play was halted for a while after a controversial decision from the on-field umpires as they did not signal a no-ball for height, which was struck for a six by Rovman Powell in the final over. The young captain protested by asking the batters to leave the field immediately and his actions cost him his entire match fees for breaking the Code of Conduct.
Rishabh Pant will be looking to put all that behind and start afresh when Delhi locks horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 28. The Capitals would be hoping to do the double over the two-time winners.
