Multan Sultans’ all-rounder Moeen Ali shares a deep bond with Pakistan, just apart from playing in the Pakistan Super League. For many who don’t know, Moeen’s grandfather and mother were born in Pakistan and he has a rich heritage going back in history. Therefore, coming into the country to play in the T20 league is a big thing for him.
England had last toured Pakistan in 2005-06 when they had lost the Test series 0-2 and ODI series 2-3. Since then, all the matches between the two teams that were supposed to be hosted by Pakistan took place in UAE, the adopted home of the green army. However, Moeen Ali hoped that the return of PSL in full back to Pakistan must open doors for the England and Wales Cricket Board to plan a tour in the near future to the Asian country.
Talks are underway for England’s to visit Pakistan: Moeen Ali
“Talks are underway for the England cricket team to visit Pakistan. At the moment, there are 10 English cricketers in Pakistan playing in the PSL, which shows that we [England] are interested in coming here and playing. If the England team comes to Pakistan, I will be a part of it,” Ali was quoted by dailytimes.com.pk.
Ali also shared his excitement to be playing in the PSL in Pakistan and shared that everyone is talking about the league now. “PSL is a great achievement for Pakistan. All the formats, ODIs, Tests, and other formats should return to the country. Pakistan is a wonderful country to play cricket in. To have the entire PSL in Pakistan is a huge achievement and I am glad to be a part of it,” he added.
Ali also shared that since his grandfather and mother are from Pakistan, he is looking forward to visiting Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the birthplace of his mother. He called it a big thing for himself and his family. He also shared that he is visiting the country for the first time in 15 years, and given that it is the land of his family, he was excited to take up the offer with Sultans as Mushtaq Ahmed and Andy Flower wanted him to come and play in PSL.
