Liam Plunkett, the England pacer is in good form in the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 31-year old got his 50th ODI wicket in the 3rd ODI match against Sri Lanka.
“It’s only taken 11 years!” said Plunkett. “Obviously, it’s an achievement — and I’m happy with it,” Plunkett said when asked about completing 50 ODI wickets.
The match was abandoned after the rain interruption. Plunkett was clocking over 93 mph in his spell. With the England pace bowling spearhead James Anderson, ruled out of the next month’s series opener against Pakistan at the Lord’s with a shoulder injury Plunkett could have an opportunity to make his way back into the side in longest format of the game.
“You still want to play Test cricket. I’ll probably still want to play Test cricket when I’m 38,” said Plunkett. He played his last Test match against India in 2014. “After this series, I’ll go back and try to perform for Yorkshire with the red ball. “If you get the nod (for the Tests), perfect; if not, you just keep cracking away.”

Dinesh Chandimal who along with Angelo Mathews has been finding runs consistently for Sri Lanka. Chandimal said that it has been tough as whenever he walked out, Sri Lanka were in trouble losing early wickets. “It was tough, when I went into bat it’s always two (wickets) down so I need to rebuild the innings until 30-35 overs, then after that, we need to get at least 270 plus,”
“As a player, you have to go with that kind of shot in that period but unfortunately, I got out,” Chandimal said.
Despite losing the Test series 2-0 and trailing the ODI series 1-0, the wicket-keeper batsman said that the team is improving every day and they will do their best in the coming matches. “The last two games, the fielding has been below par,” said Chandimal. “But as a team, every day we are improving. We are going to put our heart and soul into the game and we are looking forward to doing well.”
