The BCCI announced India A squad for the red-ball games against New Zealand A, which are scheduled to be played from September 1 onwards, and a handful of upcoming cricketers were included in the squad. Players like Umran Malik, Rajat Patidar, and Tilak Varma, who were all very impressive during the IPL 2022, were called up, but it seemed like Sheldon Jackson was disappointed on not seeing his name again on the roster.

The domestic cricket competitions in India have a long and illustrious history. The Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Ranji Trophy championships are still the foundation of Indian cricket, although having lagged behind the IPL in terms of popularity. But the two are a major reason behind Indian cricket having so many high-profile names at the moment.

Jackson has been a regular face in the domestic setup and has been consistent with his performances as well. The 35-year-old cricketer shared a cryptic tweet after India A squad for the three four-day red-ball games was announced by the BCCI as he said –

“I have a right to believe and dream that if I have performed for 3 continuous seasons, I may get picked on the basis of my performances, not age, tired of hearing this that I’m a good player and performer, but I’m old, I’m 35, not 75.”

I haven’t got anything in cricket easily or early: Sheldon Jackson

One of the users commented on the tweet, saying that he was ‘terrible’ in the IPL, where he played for Kolkata Knight Riders, and added that all the hype around him fizzled at the cash-rich event. To which Jackson replied –

“Hey, I understand you’re upset with me, and I was angry with myself too coz I haven’t got anything in cricket easily or early, but in cricket, it happens no matter how much you try at times, things don’t go your way, I’m sorry I couldn’t show you how good I actually am, someday.”

After the four-day games, India A and New Zealand A will lock horns for a three-match One-day series, the squad for which will be announced soon by the board.
