Punjab Kings (PBKS) left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been one of the standout performers for his franchise. Even though Arshdeep has scalped just three wickets from nine matches in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far, the left-arm pacer has bowled some excellent spells during the death overs and has choked the opposition batters for runs.
As a result, several cricket experts and fans have called for the inclusion of the pacer in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Australia later this year. However, Arshdeep will need to give more such performances to get on the flight to Australia. The left-arm pacer has also said that he is never satisfied with his performance and will want to perform well in the next matches.
Grateful to be able to perform for the team: Arshdeep Singh
Speaking during the post-match presentation after Punjab Kings lost by 20 runs to Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, Arshdeep said, “I am happy but a sportsperson is never satisfied. Grateful to be able to perform for the team whenever I am getting the opportunity.”
“I don’t focus on individual performances because it is a team game. You just need to perform the role you have been assigned. My plan has always been to a bowl in good areas and lets the batter make mistakes and in death overs, I just try to keep things simple,” he added.
It may be noted that Arshdeep is yet to make his debut for India, but has played a total of 32 matches in IPL. The left-arm pacer has scalped a total of 33 wickets at an average of 8.48. Arshdeep also has a five-wicket haul under his name with his best figures being 5/32 in four overs.
Meanwhile his IPL team, PBKS is currently placed seventh in the points table with four wins in nine matches. The Kings will take on the new entrants Gujarat Titans in their group stage match to be played on May 3 (Tuesday).
