West Indies batter Chris Gayle, apart from being one of the most explosive batters of all time, is also known for his humour and carefree nature on and off the field. The ‘Universe Boss’ will be next in action on the field in the T10 competition ‘6ixty’, which will begin on August 24, Wednesday.

Gayle recently expressed his excitement about the tournament, saying that he would like to contribute with both bat and ball. Gayle is an occasional off-spinner, and he even jokingly claimed that he is the “greatest off-spinner of all time”. Gayle, in addition to scoring 14,562 runs in the T20s, has also picked up 83 wickets.

“You know what? My bowling is natural. I definitely have to bowl,” said Gayle. “I’m the greatest off-spinner of all time. Murali (Muttiah Muralitharan) won’t contest that for sure. I have the best economy, not even Sunil Narine can come close to that,” told ESPNcricinfo.

I’m like a kid again, looking forward to the first game: Chris Gayle

“I’m really excited to be back in the field. I missed it. I’m like a kid again, looking forward to the first game… For my debut. I’ll have to get back in shape. I’m still in shape but just a li’l (little) prep here and there to get in that mindset of playing cricket,” he said.

Gayle spoke about the modern-day bowlers and termed them creative with a lot of variations. He said that although the shorter format is more batting dominated, the bowlers have skills to make it uncomfortable for the opponents.

“Bowlers nowadays are creative. They’ve got a lot of variations, and they make it challenging for the batters. Of course, the batting part is more dominant in shorter forms, but the bowlers have a lot of skills to make it uncomfortable for the batter,” said the 42-year-old. Gayle thinks 6ixty  is going to be exciting with a lot of “chaos.” “It’ll be up to us how we make it even more interesting for the fans out there,” said the former West Indies captain
