Imad Wasim to adopt aggressive approach as Karachi Kings captain
The objective is to win the title under Wasim's aggressive captaincy, something he believed has worked for him in international cricket.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 franchise Karachi Kings named Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim as their captain for the forthcoming season. PSL season 3 gets underway in February next year. For Karachi, the position of captaincy is a musical chair. When Shoaib Malik stepped down as captain in the middle of the first season, Ravi Bopara led the team. And in the last season Sri Lankan batting legend Kumar Sangakkara took up the role.
For the fresh new edition, Wasim will lead the side and he is happy with his new role. Karachi will look for a podium finish this time. In the last two seasons, Karachi finished at the third and fourth position respectively. So, with an objective to win the title under Wasim’s aggressive captaincy, something he believed has worked for him in international cricket.
“I have been playing with aggression in the national team and same aggression will be seen in Karachi Kings. I will not only lead the team in the best way possible but will also better my individual performance in the field,” Imad said.
The players’ draft is scheduled to take place in Lahore on November 12. Meanwhile, the left-arm spinner unshared praise on his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who maintained aggression on the field but is calm off the field.
“He only gets angry when a player makes a mistake, but off the field or in the dressing room Sarfaraz is the most friendly person.”
He further said that since the two have been playing together from the start of their respective careers, there was no “rivalry or greed” for captaincy among them. Talking about the current national squad, Wasim said all the players were supportive of each other and the “team has the best environment in the dressing room”.
Imad was also with the Champions Trophy-winning Pakistan team in 2017.
