Imad Wasim appointed the skipper of Karachi Kings
Shahid Afridi made the announcement in the press conference.
Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has been appointed as the skipper of Karachi Kings for the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). This is a huge step from the franchise as most of them always concentrate on handing the leadership to the established overseas player. But Kings have decided to keep faith in the youngster and it seems that Shahid Afridi played a big role in appointing Imad as the leader. He only made the announcement at the Press Conference on Tuesday and surprised everyone.
Imad Wasim has been the vital cog of the national side for over a year now and has played a crucial part in their victories. He was also part of the squad that triumphed in England in ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year in June. Imad has proved himself as an all-rounder in his short career so far. He has 28 wickets and scored 430 with 3 half-centuries in 30 ODIs he has played so far. His economy of 4.48 is excellent given the way 50-over format is played nowadays. Also, he is more effective in T20Is with 27 wickets in 25 matches at an economy only 6.07.
Imad Wasim future captain?
The 28-year-old Imad Wasim might be the future skipper for the Men in Green as he could be groomed from now on under Sarfraz Ahmed. His captaincy traits would be on show during the PSL next year and if he proves his credentials as the skipper then he might be the next captain of Pakistan. He is young and most importantly fit with a clever cricketing brain. Imad would also look forward his stint at Karachi Kings as a challenge now and would love to excel in it.
PSL will see the new entrant Multan Sultans in the next edition as six teams will compete for the ultimate glory. Peshawar Zalmi won the last edition earlier this year by beating Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs.
