Imad Wasim can probably captain Pakistan team in the near future: Mickey Arthur

A captain is known to play the most important and concentric role in all the three formats of the game, whether it be the regular placements in the field or motivating the guys in order to get the best out of them all. Pakistan cricket has seen some inspiring and bold enough leaders in the past, which includes the likes of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and much more in this exclusive tally.
Currently, wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed is leading Pakistan in all the three formats and has done an impressive job in leading his troops with great compassion and efficiency. Pakistan team head coach Mickey Arthur has a name in his reckoning for the captaincy role for the national team in future.
Imad can captain Pakistan in future
Mickey Arthur revealed that left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, who is a regular feature in the Pakistan team in the limited-overs set-up can probably take up the captaincy role in the future. Presently, Imad is leading the Karachi Kings in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).Arthur who happens to be the coach of the same PSL franchise also stated that Sarfraz is pretty much established to lead the team in all the three formats, as of now. The head coach also mentioned he would like to continue with the wicket-keeper during his tenure with the national team.
“In future Imad Wasim probably can be Pakistan’s captain, but Saffy (Sarfraz) is entrenched in of all forms of the game and as long as I am coaching Pakistan I am going to have Sarfraz Ahmed with me,” added Arthur during a post-match conference in the PSL as quoted by Business Recorder.
Previously, Najam Sethi, who is the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) also voiced the same opinion which Mickey has revealed now about Imad being ready as a captaincy material for the future of Pakistan cricket. Sethi hopes to see a future skipper in the young left-arm spinner, who has been doing an amazing job in the PSL as captain, where his team has won three out of their six matches so far in the league stages of the Twenty20 tournament.
“Imad Wasim is in my eye as somebody who can lead Pakistan in future,” said Sethi while addressing a press conference at the Pakistan Super League trophy unveiling ceremony.
