Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, who played a very important role in Pakistan’s unpredicted win against South Africa, has said that his team will avoid all the mistakes it made against India. After being humiliated by arch-rivals India by 124 runs in a match where they were below par in all departments of the game.

The men in green came roaring back to form against South Africa wherein they exhibited an improved fielding effort and their bowling, both pacers and spinners, put brakes on the South African batsmen, regularly picking up wickets.

Although the match was abandoned due to heavy rain, Pakistan won according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. But it appears that they still have not been able to come to terms with the humiliating defeat at the hands of India. But Imad has said that they won’t repeat mistakes from that game again.

“There is no chance of that,” said Imad in an interview to ICC. “When you win, the morale that is there is different. If we think too much about having beaten South Africa we might be flat again, but we are aware that it’s a do or die match for us. We’ll treat it like a knockout match and not worry about the result. Hopefully, Pakistan and the world will get to see a great performance,” he said.

Ab de Villiers’s golden duck

Ab de Villiers was out for a golden duck, the first of his career, and it was this spinner who picked up the all important wicket. Talking about that special moment, the 28-year old said that getting ducked is a part and parcel of the game and this time he got lucky.

“Oh, it happens in cricket… Sometimes you get hit, sometimes the other guy gets out. It’s just cricket. You should not be carried away or feel too low by this. He hit a shot and got out, so I think I’m really lucky.”
