Imad Wasim withdraws name from Natwest T20 Blast
Many Pakistani cricketers are playing in the Natwest T20 Blast.
An integral member of the triumphant Pakistani team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Imad Wasim is all set to miss the Natwest T20 Blast. The handy all-rounder will miss the domestic T20 competition owing to visa delays. Another reason for his omission from the Durham squad is his commitments towards the Windian franchise based T20 league known as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq has confirmed the news using his Twitter handle @Saj_PakPassion. In the site, he wrote, “Due to visa delays & CPL commitments, Imad Wasim will not be playing for Durham in the T20 Blast competition this season #Cricket #t20blast.”
Wasim’s team mates in the Natwest T20 Blast
Though Wasim will not be featuring in the roster of Durham, many of his Pakistani team mates are playing in the competition. Pakistan’s pace spearhead Mohammad Amir is playing for Essex which is currently ranked second last in the South Group with just one victory from five matches. Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi is donning the Hampshire jersey.
Unlike Amir’s team, Afridi’s team is on fire at the moment. They are currently topping the South Group with three victories in as many matches. Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has signed for Yorkshire. Sarfraz’s team is also not doing very well at the moment. They have won just one encounter of the four they played and is currently placed in the fifth position in the North Group.
Mohammad Amir’s partner in crime Junaid Khan has signed for Lancashire. The team of the left-arm pacer is placed at the third position in the North Group. They have won two out of the four games they have played. The team in which Wasim as expected to feature, Durham is sitting at the bottom of the North Group. They have lost their opening couple of games.
