Imran Khan chucks PCB's invitation to be a part of World XI match

Former Pakistan all-rounder Imran Khan has declined an invitation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to attend a t20 match between the ICC World XI and Pakistan reported PTI. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi had invited the legend to be a part of the dignitaries in the stadium when Pakistan lock horns with the World XI at the Gaddafi. The World XI tour marks the return of international cricket to the country of Pakistan since the horrific terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.

Imran Khan is currently on a 5-day tour to the United Kingdom and will return to Pakistan on the day the series comes to an end. The visiting team is expected to land in Pakistan on Monday. In a recent press conference, Najam Sethi revealed that the board has invited 17 former skippers and icons of the game including the likes of Imran Khan and Javed Miandad.
It is a known fact that the relationship between Najam Sethi and Imran Khan is not at all smooth, with Imran being a loyal critic of the Chairman. Sethi was the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab when the last general elections were held. However, how many of the invited luminaries will attend the highly awaited clash is still a mystery. Former Pakistan off spinner Saeed Ajmal expressed his disappointment on a TV channel over not being sent an invitation.
No Test playing nation has visited Pakistan since the 2009 horror barring the Zimbabwe team which toured Pakistan in 2015. the international drought of 8 years has been a disappointment for the fans with Pakistan playing its home matches in the UAE. Najam Sethi has turned the fortunes for Pakistan cricket after taking over as the Chairman and deserves a lot of credit. After the completion of the World XI chapter, Sri Lanka and West Indies are also expected to land in the country for brief tours.
