In one of the most unlikely incidents in recent times, Amritsar saw a tragic train accident last night at a railway crossing. The accident occurred when people standing on the railway track were hit by two trains speeding past in quick succession. People who stood near the track to get a better view of the Ravan effigy being burnt at a Dusshera celebration as more than 50 of them lost their lives were reported by the police and the local officers.
The incident which could have been avoided by not giving a green signal to the trains arouses a feeling of carelessness by the local officials and those involved in the railway staff at the next nearest station.
It is also believed that Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was the guest of honour at the celebration, continued to give her speech even when people were struck down by the train. As a result, the unfortunate incident has irked people to come out and question the government and the ones responsible to take the blame of the avoidable mishap.
Imran Khan condoles with the people of Amritsar
The cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, grieved upon the incident in Amritsar. Khan, who has often tried to better the relations with India, has failed to find any positive response from the Indian government. He was also in the news for his indirect tweet targeting India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi as former tends to mention him as someone with a smaller vision who doesn’t aim to think about a larger picture in future.
However, after the tragic train accident in Amritsar, Imran came up with a heartwarming tweet as he meant to condole with the families of the people deceased in the unfortunate happening. “Saddened to learn of the tragic train accident in Amritsar India. Condolences go to the families of the deceased,” he tweeted.
Here’s the tweet:
