MS Dhoni is someone who has been praised by almost every cricketer who has played with him. South Africa cricketer Imran Tahir is no different. The leg-spinner played with Dhoni at the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings and is still with them for the upcoming IPL. In a recent interaction, the player talked about his experience of playing with the great player.

Imran Tahir was bought by the CSK franchise for the IPL 2018. He played for the franchise and did quite well for them. In the first season, he managed to play only six matches and had picked up 6 wickets. However, his record changed in the IPL 2019 season. He featured in 17 matches and picked up 26 wickets. In the 2020 season, he was back in the benches as CSK were trying to get a different combination on the field.

For me, he is a great, great human being, says Imran Tahir on MS Dhoni

Tahir during the interview praised MS Dhoni’s knowledge and talked about how the captain is treated in the team. “It is always a pleasure to play with that guy (MS Dhoni). Have been playing with him for the last three years. For me, he is a great, great human being. He understands everybody, respects everybody. We love him.

“He is the guy who has got the knowledge and is the best in the world. You don’t have to say anything to him. He knows what field he needs to set for us, and we just need to come and bowl,” Tahir said during a live session with Sportskeeda.

The 41-year-old further stated that Dhoni understands the game better than anyone. Last season, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since the inception of the league. Talking about turning things around, the spinner seemed quite positive about the upcoming season. Tahir was not released by the franchise and retained for one more season.

“The guy (Dhoni) understands cricket. We have been calm as ever. Obviously, we were sad and disappointed because we weren’t winning. But, that’s not always (possible). I think the team culture is more important. Everyone understood what was happening.

“We are hoping for a very good season again. And, we are going to work harder and come back with better planning. Hopefully, we will do very well this year for CSK. As a player, the franchise looked after us so well. We want to give our 500 per cent for them,” Tahir added.
