India (IND) will host Australia (AUS) in a three-match ODI series, starting from September 22 in Mohali. The second and third ODIs will be played on 24 and 27 in Indore and Rajkot, respectively.
India will be the favourites to win the series playing at home since they are coming off a successful Asia Cup campaign. Rohit Sharma and Co. clinched their eighth title in the continental championship after a stunning 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the final at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Meanwhile, Australia will also look up to winning the series despite suffering a 3-2 defeat in an away series against South Africa, after taking a 2-0 lead. The Kangaroos' regular skipper Pat Cummins, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, and ace batter Steven Smith have returned to the squad, which will be a huge plus for them heading into the series.
The three-game series will be both India and Australia's last assignment ahead of the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup. The ICC global event is scheduled to be contested in India from October 5 to November 19. Both India and Australia will be locking horns in their campaign opener on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
