IND v AUS: Ashton Agar ruled out of remainder of ODI series

Left arm Australian spinner Ashton Agar has been ruled out of the final two ODIs against India in the ongoing ODI series. Agar injured his finger in a fielding attempt during the third ODI at Indore. He was seen walking out of the park after having injured his fingers of his non-bowling arm. Agar, however, had come back to the ground to bowl a few more overs after taking some time off the field.

Agar was seen having his fingers taped when he had returned on the field. The Australian team doctor, as per the quotes in cricket.com.au, mentioned that the left arm spinner underwent scans after the game. The scans revealed that he needs medical attention. The extent to which Ashton Agar has injured himself is still not known though.

He will be heading home to Australia to get proper medical attention. The blow seems to be big one for the Australian side who are scheduled to play the Ashes next month. Currently, they are trailing 0-3 in the ODI series against India. The team will participate in three T20Is after the ODI series.

“Following the conclusion of the match he went for x-rays, which have confirmed a fracture of the finger. He will return home to Australia and consult a specialist with a possibility of surgery,” quoted team doctor Richard Saw.

Zampa likely to be back in the side

Agar had made a comeback to the setup with the Bangladesh Test series that preceded the ODI series against India. He will be disheartened to miss out on the international action again.

Meanwhile, it is expected that leg spinner Adam Zampa will be drafted back in the playing eleven at the expense of Ashton Agar in the side. Zampa had played the first ODI at Kolkata and was surprisingly dropped thereafter.
