IND v SL: Twitter Reacts as Ishan Kishan marks comeback with a whirlwind 89
India face Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
India would be hoping to continue their winning run in the shortest format as they face Sri Lanka at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on February 24. While promising batter Ruturaj Gaikwad had to back out at the very last moment due to a wrist injury, another emerging talent ensured that he did not disappoint the team and mattered when it mattered the most with blistering innings.
It is Ishan Kishan who made a statement with his bat in the first game with an impactful knock in the series opener after the hosts were asked to bat first by the Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka. He along with skipper Rohit Sharma ensured a brisk start for India as the duo added 111 runs for the opening stand before the latter’s dismissal in the 12th over scoring 44 runs off 32 deliveries.
The southpaw took the Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners at regular intervals and scored an excellent half-century off only 30 balls. The wicketkeeper-batter was under immense pressure after failing to impress in the previous series against the West Indies where he could only manage 71 runs from three games at a strike rate of 85.54. It is indeed a sigh of relief for the youngster who has finally succeeded in justifying his heavy IPL price tag to a certain extent.
Here are the Twitter Reactions after Ishan Kishan played a sensational knock
Ishan Kishan was the most expensive buy at the IPL 2022 mega auction earlier this month and the second-most-expensive Indian player in IPL history after being bought back by the five-time winners Mumbai Indians for a staggering INR 15.25 crore. With Suryakumar Yadav and bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar ruled out from the series due to injury concerns, Kishan held nerves and scored a stunning 89 off 56 balls.
At the same time, the left-hander would also be looking forward to making an impact behind the stumps in the absence of regular keeper Rishabh Pant in order to have strong competition for the wicketkeeper’s slot with the addition of Sanju Samson heading into the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 down under in October-November.
