IND vs NZ: Reason why Rishabh Pant sported his Indian jersey with a tape on it in 2nd T20I
All the other Indian players were seen wearing their normal limited-overs jerseys.
India’s dashing wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was wearing a tape on his jersey in the second T20I match against New Zealand. And now, the reason why Pant did so has been revealed.
Pant had worn the Indian T20 World Cup jersey for the match against New Zealand, and due to the fact that the T20 World Cup logo was present on the jersey, the 24-year-old used a tape to hide it.
All the other Indian players were seen wearing their normal Indian limited-overs jerseys. And, this jersey that the other players wore even sported the name BYJU’s on the front part.
India beat New Zealand in the second T20I to take an unassailable 2-0 lead
The Indian side produced a good performance with both bat and ball in the second T20I that took place between these two sides at Ranchi. Wielding the willow first, the New Zealand side posted a total of 153/6 on the board.
The New Zealand openers, Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell gave the Kiwis a flying start, putting on 48 runs in just 4.2 overs. However, the other Kiwi willow wielders could not capitalize on it. Glenn Phillips top-scored for the Black Caps with a 21-ball 34.
With the ball, debutant Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers for the Indian side. The right-arm pacer scalped 2 wickets and leaked only 25 runs in his 4-over quota.
In reply, it was the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul who decimated the New Zealand bowling attack. The Rohit-Rahul duo put on a match-winning opening partnership of 117 runs to seal the job for their side. Both openers scored half-centuries, as India cantered past the target set by the Kiwis with 7 wickets and as many as 2.4 overs remaining.
Tim Southee scalped all the 3 wickets to fall for the Indian side. Harshal Patel won the Player of the Match award for his superb bowling performance. The 3rd and final T20I of the series will be held in Kolkata on 21st November 2021.
