IND vs SL: Fan accurately predicts Virat Kohli's score and mode of dismissal in his 100th Test
An error in Kohli’s judgment meant his off-stumps was shattered by Lasith Embuldeniya.
Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match saw him scoring 45 in India’s first innings. Coming to bat at number four, the 33-year-old looked in fine touch as he played some delightful shots early on. Many even expected him to end the century drought as Sri Lankan bowlers were having a hard time against him at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
However, just when the right-handed batter looked settled at the crease, left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya got the better of him. It was the third delivery of the 43rd and Embuldeniya banged the ball at the good length region. As the delivery seemed harmless, Kohli went on the back foot to defend the ball.

However, an error in Kohli’s judgment meant his off-stumps was shattered. While there was disappointment in the Indian camp, Sri Lankan fielders were delighted. Meanwhile, soon after his dismissal, a tweet went in viral. Apparently, a fan had accurately predicted Kohli’s score in the game. He even predicted that Embuldeniya will shatter his stumps, leaving him in disbelief.
There’s was a slight difference in the prediction of the number of deliveries. While the fan predicted Kohli will score 45 off 100 deliveries, the former Indian skipper took 76 balls. “Kohli Won’t score a 100 in his 100th test. Will score 45 (100) with 4 gorgeous cover drives and then Embuldeniya will knock his stumps over and he’ll pretend to be shocked, and will nod his head in disappointment,” read the tweet, which has now gone viral.
Meanwhile, Kohli delivered an emotional speech ahead of the game, thanking his teammates, BCCI and family members. “To all my teammates, thank you so much for your support over the years. It is indeed a team game and this journey couldn’t have been possible without all of you. To the BCCI to give me the opportunity to represent Indian cricket and from thereon, everything has gone from strength to strength,” Kohli said upon receiving his 100th Test cap.
