Extending their sensational run in white-ball cricket, India thrashed Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I of the three-match series. It was indeed a comprehensive win for the Men in Blue as they dominated the visitors across all three departments. Notably, the clash also marked Ravindra Jadeja’s return in national colours and the all-rounder enjoyed an impressive outing.

With the top order doing most of the work, the southpaw could only score an unbeaten three of four deliveries. However, he was sensational with the ball in hand. Jadeja gave away just 28 runs from his quota of four overs and also took an important wicket of wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Chandimal. Seeing the Sri Lankan batter stepping out of the crease, the left-arm spinner dropped the ball short and foxed Chandimal.

Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan effected a clean stumping, bringing an end to Chandimal’s stay. Delighted with the dismissal, Jadeja then unleashed the famous “Pushpa” celebration that has taken the internet by storm. Cricketers from various countries have been imitating Allu Arjun’s iconic step from the Tollywood blockbuster and Jadeja is the latest to join the bandwagon.

Notably, the veteran all-rounder had shared many reels and pictures, imitating poses and dialogues from Pushpa. As Jadeja took the field for the first time in three months, he didn’t miss out on bringing the popular celebration out.

Meanwhile, Jadeja had sustained a hamstring injury in November last year which kept him out of action for a while. Hence, the all-rounder was delighted to take the field again. “Good feeling to be back in the Indian team. Really looking forward to playing the T20 series and the Test series. I am feeling so good that finally after two months, I will be playing for India,” Jadeja said while taking to BCCI.Tv

Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma suggested Jadeja, who batted at number four in the first T20I, will continue to get chances up the order. “Very happy with Jadeja’s return. We want more from him that is why we asked him to bat higher. You will see that happening more and more in the games that he plays for India. I want him to bat up the order more. He is a very improved batter, so we will try and see if we can promote him going forward,” the 34-year-old said after the game.
