Rohit Sharma’s full-time limited-overs captaincy tenure has got off to a flying start. After whitewashing New Zealand in the T20I series in November and then winning all three ODIs against the West Indies, India registered its third straight home series win with an eight-run victory over the Windies in the second T20I at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 18.

Rohit Sharma seems to have activated the serious mode on in the ongoing home white-ball series and at the same time has also not hesitated in expressing anger either. He was heard scolding wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for not being stationed at the right fielding position during the second ODI earlier this month when the match was evenly poised. Lately, the Hitman had yet again vented out his frustration in the high-voltage second T20I but no player was at the receiving end this time around.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s sloppy fielding annoys skipper Rohit Sharma

While India did win the contest, it needs to be noted that they were really sloppy on the field. First, it was leggie Ravi Bishnoi who dropped wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran on 21 before his batting partner Rovman Powell got a much-needed reprieve as the Windies were rebuilding their innings. Powell, who was batting on 39 attempted to pull a short delivery aggressively but, ended up getting a top-edge as the ball went up in the air and it seemed as it would result in a simple catch.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who himself was the bowler decided to go for the catch but surprisingly, ended up spilling it as the ball popped out of his hands which left Rohit displeased and he kicked the ball in frustration. The act backfired as the batters stole a cheeky single. The Mumbai cricketer was then saying something supposedly to the bowler.

The duo added a 100-run stand for the third wicket. Pooran scored 62 off 41 balls while Powell remained unbeaten on 68 runs off just 36 deliveries as they bought the visitors on the cusp of victory. Nonetheless, Bhuvneshwar’s penultimate over was the turning point of the contest as he conceded just four runs along with a wicket as the Men In Blue sealed the T20I series.
