Team India defeated West Indies by 17 runs in the third and final T20I to clinch the series 3-0. This win also propelled the Men in Blue to the top of the ICC T20I team rankings. With the T20 World Cup taking place later this year in Australia, Rohit Sharma’s men would be pretty pleased by their preparations. This is also a dream start to Rohit’s captaincy career in international cricket.

After taking over as full-time skipper, Rohit led India in three ODIs and six T20Is and walked away with victories every single time. Be it shuffling bowlers as per situations or making précised field placements, many aspects of Rohit’s leadership have left the cricket fraternity impressed. His DRS (Decision Review System) calls have been pretty accurate as well.

The third T20I also witnessed Rohit making great use of the technology. He challenged the umpire’s decision in the first over of West Indies’ innings and sent opener Kyle Mayers back in the hut. Besides his accurate decision making, Rohit’s way of taking DRS also garnered a lot of attention. The 34-year-old was mighty confident of Mayers’ edging the ball as he went upstairs within a blink.

His way of making the ‘T’ sign reflected confidence and conviction. Rohit’s verdict proved to be spot on as Mayers was found guilty of edging Deepak Chahar’s delivery. As wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan took a clean catch, the West Indies opener was out for six. Twitterati lavished massive praises on Rohit as his picture of taking DRS went viral in no time.

Meanwhile, Rohit was might pleased with his side’s performance and he expressed his delight after the match. “Happy with the series. Pretty much got everything that we wanted. We do understand we are very young as a team. We are still a good chasing side, but a lot of the players are missing. So we wanted the guys to understand how to bat in pressure situations,” said the Indian skipper in the post-match conversation.

“We have the (T20) World Cup in mind and we are trying to give game time for individuals. Sri Lanka will be a different challenge. But I am not someone who looks at the opposition, I would like to see what we can do as a team,” he added.
