India A v Bangladesh A 3rd one-dayer preview: Bangladesh A look for historic series win: With their new-found confidence courtesy a comeback win in the second game Bangladesh A are planning to inflict further misery on the hosts and seal a series win. That will be their sole goal when they take the field on Sunday for the 3rd and deciding match of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The series-leveling 65 run win was in no uncertain terms a thrashing for India A who at one point looked to win the contest comfortably. Nasser Hossain had a day to remember scoring an unbeaten ton and taking 5 wickets.
India A:
Having failed miserably for the second time in the series, India’s top order would like to make amends and come out with all cylinders blazing on Sunday. Also the middle and lower middle-order, who helped India A amass 322 in the first game, would hope to forget the last encounter where they miserably surrendered to Nasir’s off-spin and Rubel Hossain’s medium pace, who ended with figures of 4 for 33.
Suresh Raina who has managed just 33 runs in last two games, would look to get some batting practice before the South Africa series starting next month. Youngsters Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav will try to put up their case with a better show, even as they are included in the 30-member probables for the upcoming South Africa series.
Apart from skipper Unmukt Chand who top scored with 56 last time none of the batsmen found a way to tackle the Bangladeshi attack. Rahul Dravid will not want his boys to loose a home series to Bangladesh A after having won the tri-series trophy involving the A sides of South Africa and Australia recently.
Bangladesh A:
The visitors recovered from being 82 for 5 at one stage in the second game to post a total of 252 for 8 thanks to an unbeaten ton from Nasir Hossain. The worry though for the tourists has been the form of the top order and they will hope the likes of Soumya Sarkar and Mominul Haque to give them the platform to take full toll at the latter stages.
The bowling was next to dismal in the first game having allowed the hosts to score over 300 after taking out the top order early. But Rubel and Nasir were on fire and shared 9 wickets amongst them to script an inspiring comeback victory. If the rest of the attack can also step up India A can expect a tough time. With most of the squad comprising international stars, they would look to clinch the series, the way they did back home against the India seniors.
Despite being a non-international contest, there is a lot at stake. So expect both sides to put in hard efforts to ensure they come out on top and set the benchmark for the upcoming three-day matches.
