India and Pakistan fans will play for the Edgbaston trophy

A pleasant news has emerged from England for the fans of the India V/s Pakistan cricketing rivalry. Although India’s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy is still uncertain, Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium and the National Asian Cricket Council (NACC) have decided to organise a special cricket match between India and Pakistan fans.

The fans of both teams will play the Edgbaston Fans Trophy on Monday 15 May at the Attock Cricket Club. Moreover, all the spectators who will attend the game will get a chance to take photographs with two of the most prestigious trophies in cricket, the ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Women’s World Cup.

“Edgbaston is proud to be an ICC Champions Trophy host venue for the third time and stage, what are arguably, the biggest games of the group stages,” said Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

He also revealed that fans in England are equally excited about the India-Pakistan clash as much as fans in the two sub continental countries. “The 2017 ICC Champions Trophy meeting between the two nations will be one of the biggest sporting events of the year and the Edgbaston Fans Trophy will be a celebration of this upcoming fixture, uniting supporters through the true spirit of the cricket.”

Edgbaston will host a total of 5 matches – India v Pakistan, Australia v New Zealand, England v Australia, Pakistan v South Africa and a semi-final.

This year’s match between the fans of India and Pakistan cricket team will be the second Fans Trophy contest to take place, following a match in 2016 between fans of England and Pakistan.

The Edgbaston Fans Trophy at Attock Cricket Club will start at 6:30 pm on Monday 15 May. Free entry will be allowed to all the spectators for the game. This match will only add more excitement to the most awaited rivalry, but all of that if only India travel to England at all.
