After much confusion on who will travel to Sri Lanka as a part of Ravi shastri’s extended coaching staff, the names were finally revealed. Bharat Arun, who was India’s bowling coach from 2014 to 2016 has been re-elected for the post. Initially, it was reported that Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan were appointed as the batting and bowling consultants to the team.
However, it was later revealed that Shastri wanted Arun to become the full-time bowling coach of the team, and it seems that he had his way.
Shastri and Arun worked together previously too when the former was the team director during the latter’s tenure. During that period, the two saw both ups and downs, wins and losses. After Anil Kumble was appointed as the head coach of the team in 2016, Arun made his way out and became the coach for Hyderabad for the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season.
Speaking to Times of India, Arun expressed his happiness on being back to the team as the bowling coach. “It feels great to be back in the Indian scheme of things and work again with the likes of (Ravi) Shastri, (Sanjay) Bangar and (R) Sridhar. I’m looking forward to the Lanka series,” the former India international said.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar will continue as the batting coach and R Sridhar as the fielding coach. India are all set to play a full-fledged series in Sri Lanka involving five One-Day Internationals, four Tests and a solitary T20 from July 21 to September 6.
Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe in the one-off Test on Tuesday, before losing the ODI series to them. They are being led by the new captains – Dinesh Chandimal in Tests and Upal Tharanga in limited-overs, after Angelo Matthews relinquished his captaincy after the humiliating series defeat.
