Twitter quite literally exploded with Tweets from mostly players from the India Cricket Team on the day of India’s Republic Day Celebrations. In spite of the fact that the Indian cricket team certainly has an important and exciting encounter against the Britons at Kanpur to kick-off the three-match T20I series, they certainly could take a few moments out of their time and tweet about the Republic Day.
The tweets began from India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Most of the players as well as fans today are able to relate to Tendulkar as a cricketer quite clearly courtesy of the fact that he made his debut relatively early. At 16, many would love to play for the country, and as an inspiration, many now believe that it is certainly possible.
Harbhajan Singh took a moment to do the same while Virat Kohli also added a few words along with a quick video as well, perhaps following the lead set by Harbhajan a few minutes prior. Robin Uthappa and Amit Mishra took the road frequently taken as they went ahead and put up simple images of the India flag, something symbolizing the Indian Republic Day as well.
However, as was the case with most days in celebration of Indian culture, it was former batsman Matthew Hayden who took out a moment to wish the Indian people on the day with a Tweet reading that India was indeed an incredible country to say the least. Jonny Bairstow, the England keeper who has been added to the T20 international squad for the upcoming series has seen him also wish all his followers from India or at least the larger portion as well.
