After having their four-day practice Test match against Essex cut short to a three-day practice game, Team India will now take an earlier flight to Edgbaston, Birmingham to ensure that they go over every small detail prior to the commencement of the first Test match against England. The first Test begins on the first of August and it would seem as though the Indians have a pretty decent chance of securing a win this time around.

Four years ago, when the Indians toured the British Isles under MS Dhoni, they had a whiff of success when they won a rather unlikely encounter at Lord’s. However, with injuries to Ishant Sharma and a dip in performances, it was clear that the win would not last very long. A 3-1 loss was what the Indians ended up with.

However, this time around, with a seasoned squad and several India players playing some of the best cricket of their lives,  Virat Kohli and his band of merry men are certainly favourites at the moment.

For Joe Root and his England side, they will be hoping for more of the same from their batsmen who impressed quite a bit in the ODI series, something which saw them come from 1-0 down to secure a 2-1 victory. India is also hurting at the moment with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah absent from the squad.

Here is what the Tweet had to say:

A leading Indian sports journalist Tweeted: “India’s four-day practice game vs Essex has been reduced to a three-day game… now will be played from Wednesday to Friday, instead of Wednesday to Saturday. Team management wants to reach Birmingham early and prepare for the first Test. #EngvInd.”
