Swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been brought back into the Test squad for the remaining three Tests of the five-match series against England. The right arm pacer was unavailable for initial selection process ahead of the stat of the series due to a back strain injury which he picked up in the 3rd Test against New Zealand in Indore. The fitness issue kept him away from cricketing action for close to a month before he recovered and proved his match fitness playing for his state side Uttar Pradesh against Mumbai in Mysuru.
Another significant change made in the squad was the elimination of Gautam Gambhir. The left-hander, who made his Test comeback a few weeks ago against New Zealand in Indore, wasn’t able to emulate his domestic exploits and has subsequently paid the price for it. Also, Shikhar Dhawan, who was struggling with form issues also did not get a look in. Apart from these changes, the squad remain the change.
Earlier, opener KL Rahul was added to India’s squad for the second Test which was recently concluded in Visakhapatnam. Rahul had injured his right hamstring while batting against New Zealand in Kanpur last month.
India currently leads the visitors 1-0 after winning the second Test at Vizag. The third test begins in Mohali from 26th November.
