India is all set to tour South Africa in the upcoming December-January across formats. The mega tour will comprise three Tests and ODIs each followed by four T20Is. The first Test will take place between December 17-21 which will be followed by another one from December 26. The final game of the Test series will take place from January 03, 2021.

The ODIs will kick off from January 11 with the final one taking place on January 16, 2022. The first T20I of the series will get underway on January 19 and the concluding game will be played on January 26. It has to be noted that India will move for South Africa after playing the T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE from October 17.

After recently making an impact on away tours, India would be keen on winning the series against Proteas too. As all the Test matches are part of the WTC 2021-23 cycle, it will be crucial for India to make a mark in the whites too. Though India reached the finale of the inaugural edition of the WTC, they had to bear a loss against New Zealand.

Talking about India currently, they are up against England in a five-match Test series. The visiting nation under the leadership of Virat Kohli is currently 2-1 up in the series and it remains to be seen if they take away the series in the 5th game at Manchester.

South Africa is up against Sri Lanka in the recent turn of events, SL have already won the ODI series against South Africa 2-1 and will next play the T20I series against them starting from September 10. India will move to SA after the successful completion of the T20 WC in the UAE. India has already announced their 15-member squad and MS Dhoni has been named as India’s mentor for the squad.

The exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan has come as a surprising element. It remains to be seen how India will make a mark in the high-profile event.
