The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have resolved all issues to resume the cricket ties for bilateral series. Earlier, in 2014, the West Indies players left after the fourth ODI on a tour that was scheduled to have five ODIs, a T20I and three Tests. This hampered the bilateral relations between the two sides and BCCI imposed a fine of $42 million on the WICB.
Recently, the BCCI announced to waive off the fine imposed on the WICB. With this understanding, bilateral series as part of the Future Tours Programme will be resumed with the Indian cricket team touring the West Indies in July-August, 2016 for a four-match Test series.
The West Indies Cricket Board president Dave Cameron was extremely delighted to revive the cricketing ties with India.
“We are extremely delighted that concerns which arose due to the incomplete tour have been addressed and would like to thank BCCI for reviving our ties. West Indies cricket appreciates the support of BCCI and the cricket loving fans of the islands keenly look forward to witness some exciting contests between the two teams,” a delighted WICB president, Dave Cameron, said in a release.
The BCCI Secretary also announced the same and confirmed India’s tour to West Indies for a 4 Test match series.
“BCCI is happy to resume their bilateral ties with WICB. We recognise that West Indies has a huge role to play in the development of cricket and we are happy to support their endeavours. This tour will further strengthen the bond between the Indian and the West Indian fans, who have over the years patronized this glorious game of cricket,” quoted the BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur.
