Team India sealed the 5-match ODI series with two more games to be played at their fortress Indore with a comfortable 5-wicket victory. A brilliant century from Aaron Finch and fifty from Steven Smith placed the Aussies at 234/2 in 40 overs but exceptional death bowling from the Indian bowlers in the last 10 overs restricted the visitors to just 293/6. Rohit Sharma’s early blitz along with Ajinkya Rahane gave a brilliant start to the Indian chase which was carried on by Hardik Pandya’s 78-run knock.

8 – Number of centuries in ODI cricket for Aaron Finch. These are the 2nd most for any player without playing a Test match. William Porterfield has scored nine centuries in his ODI career but never featured in a Test.
9 – This is the 9th consecutive win for India in ODIs which is the joint-longest streak for them in this format. India won nine consecutive ODI games between 2008 and 2009.
9 – Virat Kohli became the 3rd Indian captain to win 9 consecutive ODI matches. Rahul Dravid won nine in a row in the first half of 2006 while MS Dhoni won nine consecutive ODIs in 2008/09.
42 – Rohit Sharma’s 42-ball fifty in this game is his fastest fifty in ODI cricket. His previous fastest fifty was off 43 balls against Sri Lanka during the recently concluded ODI series.
65 – Sharma’s 65 sixes in International cricket against Australia are the most for any player against them. Brendon McCullum has hit 61 sixes against Australia in International cricket.
100 – Glenn Maxwell’s stumping off Yuzvendra Chahal was MS Dhoni’s 100th stumping in ODIs for India. Dhoni has 103 stumpings in ODI cricket so far with three of them coming for Asia XI.
139 – Ajinkya Rahane and Sharma’s 139 runs partnership is the highest opening stand for India in ODIs in 2017 and also the highest ODI partnership between them. In the previous ten ODI stands, Rahane and Rohit had the highest partnership of 49.
1042 – Runs Rahane has aggregated in the ODIs he has played in India. He is the 32nd player to score 1000 ODI runs in India with his average of 32.56 being the 3rd lowest among them.
