Bangladesh’s captain Mushfiqur Rahim made his team’s maiden Test in India a memorable one by scoring a brilliant 127 before being dismissed as the last man on the 4th day at Hyderabad. India decided not to ask them to follow-on after taking a 299-run lead and batted for 29 overs and set a target of 459 before Bangladesh. The visitors lost 3 wickets in the final session scoring 103. Here we look at all the records and stats created during the day’s play.

1 – Number of innings before this against India where Bangladesh scored more than 388 runs in 127.5 overs in the first innings of this Test. In their inaugural Test, Bangladesh posted 400 in 153.3 overs.

1 – For the first time in International cricket, both the team captains and wicketkeepers scored centuries in a game. India’s captain Virat Kohli and keeper Saha scored centuries while Bangladesh’s keeper and captain, Rahim scored a century.

3 – Mushfiqur Rahim is only the 3rd keeper-captain to score a century on Indian soil. Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni (5 tons) are the other two players.

4 – Saha and Rahim both scoring centuries is only the 4th instance in Test cricket where keepers from both the teams managed to score a century in the same Test.

4 – Number of Test centuries Mushfiqur Rahim has scored outside home as a keeper-captain. Remaining keeper-captains collectively scored 4 centuries in Test cricket away from home.

6 – Number of Indian batsmen who hit a six in this Test match, the joint 2nd most for them in a Test. 7 Indians hit sixes in Wellington Test in 2009 vs New Zealand, the most and the last instance of 6+ Indians hitting a six in Tests.

5y 95d – Time Ravichandran Ashwin took since debut to complete 250 wickets, the 2nd quickest in terms of time duration. Graeme Swann needed 4 years and 345 days.

45 – Matches taken by Ravichandran Ashwin to complete 250 wickets in Test cricket, the fastest to do so. He broke Dennis Lillee’s record, who took 48 Tests for 250 wickets.

73.66 – Mushfiqur Rahim’s batting average outside home as captain is the 2nd highest in Test cricket. Don Bradman averaged 85.63 as captain outside home. (Min: 500 runs)

232 – Dale Steyn’s 232 wickets were the most by a player’s in the first 45 Tests before Ashwin. Among Indians, Harbhajan Singh’s 199 are the most before Ashwin.

252 – Number of wickets Ravichandran Ashwin has taken in Test cricket so far, the most by anyone since his debut. Overall, he is the 6th Indian and 40th player to take 250+ wickets in Tests.

388/10 – Bangladesh’s total of 388 is the highest score by a visiting team in India while batting second since 2013. This is also the first instance of a visiting team scoring 300+ in India in the 2nd or 3rd or 4th innings of a Test match.

1234 – Runs scored in the first three innings of this Test match without an extra in form of bye; the highest in Test cricket. The 1075 runs in the first two innings without a bye is also a record.
