India v England - 5 Moments of the Test series
Team India emerged as the undisputed winners of the recently concluded Test series against England. The visitors were thoroughly bruised and beaten in the series. The action kick-started in Rajkot when the hosts had a brief scare on the final day. It was skipper Virat Kohli, who stood tall between England and a Test win. The action moved to Vizag where a turner awaited the two teams. India emerged victorious by a big margin of 246 runs.
The story of the Mohali Test was no different. Another one sided affair beckoned the two sides and the trend continued in the Mumbai Test as well. After the Rajkot, the Indian team kept coming up with stellar performances. For the English team, the defeats got bigger and worse as the matches progressed. The final Test at Chennai headed to a draw. With just 2 innings completed in the first four Tests of the match, a result was improbable.
However, a stunning turnaround on the final day from India saw the hosts seal he series 4-0. Throughout the series, there were many moments to cherish. From Virat Kohli’s defiant fifty at Rajkot to Jayant Yadav’s maiden ton at number 9. Here we pick the top 5 moments of the India v England Test series:
1. Mohammad Shami uprooting Alastair Cook’s off stump
A lot of expected from the Brits when the action moved to Vizag for the second Test of the series. A close contest at Rajkot had set the tone for the big fight. Th pitch was expected to be a turner. But it was a pace bowler who scalped the moment of the match. It was day 2 of the match when England came in to bat. English skipper Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed were hoping to put up a big stand in response to India’s first innings total of 455.
However, Mohammad Shami had other plans. The Indian pace spearhead set it up beautifully to see the back of the English captain. It was in the third over when the action perspired. Shami bowled two good length deliveries that shaped away from Alastair Cook. The third ball was pitched just close to good length. Cook expected it to shape away as well. But it nipped back in and hit the off stump, it broke into half and went for a roll. The Indian camp was all smiles and so were the fans. A perfect sight for a fast bowler.
