Haseeb Hameed’s injury saw Durham batsman Keaton Jennings’ being drafted into the England team. Hameed had made an impressive imprint on the critics and hence Jennings surely had big boots to fill. Playing in the Mumbai Test, Jennings made a solid start to his Test career. Jennings scored a gutsy 112 on debut. In the process, he became the 19th English batsman to score a century on Test debut.

HIs knock saw him safely negotiate the Indian spinners that boasted of the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Aswhin. Keaton Jennings made sure that the team got a good start and set the base for a high first innings score for England. It was only a shame that he failed to score runs in the second innings. He got a golden duck in the second innings of his debut Test.
