India v England - 5 Moments of the Test series
5. Ravindra Jadeja bags a 7-wicket haul
The Chennai Test headed to a draw. The wicket was an uncharacteristic Chepauk turf. It offered no turn and hence the teams managed to post mammoth totals. India replied with 759 to England’s first innings score of 477. India had a tough ask when they had to bag 10 wickets on the final day to win the Test. Things went worse when England openers safely negotiated the first session without losing a wicket.
It was then that Ravindra Jadeja broke into the scene and had an hour of the season. He bagged 7 wickets as English batsmen fell like nine pins. He also took a very good running catch backwards to send Jonny Bairstow packing. With figures of 7/48, Jadeja helped India thump England by an innings margin to win the series 4-0. It would not be wrong to say he handed India a 4-0 win, what seemed like a 3-0 win at one stage.
