5. Karun Nair

Karun Nair was the beneficiary when Ajinkya Rahane was injured ahead of the fourth Test in Mumbai. However, he failed to make the most of the opportunity bestowed on him. Nair made his Test debut in the third Test at Mohali. He was unfortunate to be run out on 4 in his maiden Test knock.

The Test at Mumbai was not fruitful either. For a batsman who has a reputation of hitting big runs in the domestic circuit, it is only a matter of time that Karun Nair announces himself in grand fashion at a level higher. He is likely to retain his place in the side.
