After ending their losing streak at the toss, New Zealand interestingly elected to bat and brought in an extra spinner on a dry pitch which turned out to be a crucial moment in the game. New Zealand got off to a great start with Guptill scoring a fifty at a good pace. Indian spinners slowed down the things as the visitors finished with 260/7 on the board.

At halfway stage, India were looking good in the chase only till Neesham and Southee struck twice in quick space. India’s lower order fought again like in the 2nd ODI but once again they fell short of the target as they got bowled out for 241 in the penultimate over. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

3 – Amit Mishra picking up 10 wickets in this series is the 3rd instance of him taking 10+ wickets in an ODI bilateral series. Among Indians, no bowler has taken 10 or more wickets in an ODI bilateral series on more than 3 occasions.

24 – Man of the match awards Martin Guptill has received in International cricket, the joint 3rd most by a New Zealand player. Nathan Astle has 26 awards while Daniel Vettori has received 25.

34 – Kulkarni-Umesh’s 34-run stand for the 10th wicket is the highest stand for the final wicket for India against New Zealand. Previous highest was 28* by Jadeja-Aaron during the Tied ODI at Auckland in 2014.

144 – Balls bowled by New Zealand spinners in this ODI, the 2nd most they bowled in an ODI in Asia. Their spinners bowled 152 balls vs South Africa at Dhaka in 2011.
