India’s middle order mainstay batsman Cheteshwar Pujara had a point to prove when he came into the series. His place in the side was being questioned during the Caribbean tour. Pujara was made to sit out of the starting eleven in a Test in West Indies. The man from Saurashtra bounced back in style to reaffirm his authority in the middle order. With 373 runs in 6 matches at an average of 74.6, Pujara emerged as the leading run-getter of the series.
He started off with 62 and 78 in the first Test. He missed out on a ton at Kolkata Test too, where he was dismissed on 87 in the first innings. He struck gold in the final Test thought. After scoring a fighting 41 in the first innings, he notched up his 8th international ton in the 2nd innings. An unbeaten knock of 101 saw him move to the top of leading run-getters list in the series.
