India v South Africa 2nd ODI: Tickets denied for cricket fans at Indore
India v South Africa 2nd ODI: Tickets denied for cricket fans at Indore: Ahead of the India v South Africa 2nd ODI at Indore, The Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed a petition that aimed at cancelling the 2nd ODI between India and South Africa on Wednesday alleging irregularities over the sale of tickets, IBNLive reports.
But meanwhile avid cricket fans in the city were left disgruntled over the unavailability of tickets at the stipulated counters.
Two local lawyers had filed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding the match be “restrained” as “black-marketing” and “irregularities” had caused the cricket crazy public to be repudiated the opportunity to purchase tickets.
The petitioners’ lawyer Anil Ojha had also argued that the state government had gone out of its way to grant exemption upon the collection of entertainment tax during the match notwithstanding the fact that Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) was not a public welfare organisation.
The Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, however, rejected the petition stating that there was no proof to back the claims of irregularities in the sale of tickets. As for the tax exemption, Additional Advocate General Sunil Jain said the government has used its discretionary powers to waive the levy.
