Team India is all set for an innings victory in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka after another day of Test cricket was dominated by the batsman. Their skipper Virat Kohli led the charge with yet another double century. Rohit Sharma scored his first century since his debut Test series as India took a huge lead of 405 runs after declaring their first innings on 610/6. Sri Lanka lost a wicket for 21 runs before stumps on the 3rd day.

3 – Number of instances when four Indians scored a century in the same Test innings. The other two instances were against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2007 and against South Africa in Kolkata in 2010. Overall, this is the 22nd instance of four centuries in a Test inning.


4 – Rohit Sharma’s century is his first in Test cricket since November 2013 where he scored centuries in first two Test matches. This is also the first time Rohit featured in a Test match since October 2016.


5 – Number of double centuries for Virat Kohli in Test cricket; he has scored all of them as the captain. He and Brian Lara are the only players to score five Test double tons as captains.


7 – India’s 600+ total in this game is their 7th such total in Test cricket under the captaincy of Kohli. Four captains including two from India had five totals of 600+ under them in this format which were the most before Kohli.


10 – Virat became the first captain to score 10 International centuries in a calendar year. Ricky Ponting in 2005, 2006 and Graeme Smith in 2005 scored nine centuries across formats as skippers.


12 – Kohli’s century is his 12th in Test cricket as a captain with which he went past Sunil Gavaskar’s tally of 11 centuries to become the captain with most centuries for India.


30 – India’s total of 610/6 in this game is their 30th total of 600+ in Test cricket. Only Australia (32) has more 600+ totals in this format. This is India’s 7th 600+ total against Sri Lanka, the most for them against any side.


53 – Cheteshwar Pujara became the quickest to complete 3000 runs in Test cricket on Indian soil. By taking 53 innings to get to the milestone, Pujara broke the record earlier held by Sachin Tendulkar (55).


213 – Virat Kohli’s 214 is the highest individual score by an Indian captain against Sri Lanka in Test cricket. The previous highest score by an Indian skipper against Sri Lanka is 163 by Kapil Dev in 1986 in Kanpur.


405 – The 405-run lead Team India has taken in this game is the highest for them in the first innings while batting second. India took a 400-run lead by posting 633/5 against Australia in 1998 in Kolkata.


492 – Days between Virat Kohli’s first double and his 5th double hundred in Test cricket. This is the shortest span in which a player scored five double centuries.


610/6 – The 610/6 by India is the highest total at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The previous highest was 566/8 dec by India against New Zealand in 2010.
